Mesolithic Age

From 8000 BC began an intermediate stage in the stone age culture, called the Mesolithic Age.
In India it continued well up to about 4000 BC.
The characteristic tool of this transitional phase are microliths,eg:-pointed or crescentic blade etc and are used for killing fast moving animals.Various Mesolithic sites are found in Chotanagpur plateau in central India and also South of the river Krishna.
This stage reflects a specialized and increasing efficient food collection, leading to the beginning of plant cultivation.
